  3. After completing the course, you will need to accept the License Agreement to take the CSM test that’s available in 13 languages
  4. After getting the certification, you can maintain it by earning Scrum Education Units® (SEUs) and renewing your certificate every two years

Note: If you have already passed the CSM exam, you will not be allowed to retake the exam to receive a better score.

PSM Certification Exam

Scrum.org is also another very well-known and respected organization among industry professionals. It offers three levels of scrum master certifications: PSM I, PSM II, and PSM III. Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) is an entry-level certification offered by Scrum.org. Project Management Institute is a recognized leader in certifying project management professionals worldwide. Although PMI doesn’t offer specific Scrum certifications, its Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification is the fastest-growing certification among Scrum Masters, and it tests your knowledge of agile principles and techniques.

Prerequisites for the PMI-ACP certification exam are incredibly advanced compared to entry-level Scrum Master certification exams.

Who Should Apply?

(PMI-ACP)® is specifically designed for professionals with extensive experience in multiple Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, XP, Lean, DSDM, etc. If you work in an organization that is adopting agile practices, the PMI-ACP is the right choice for you.

As stated by the Scrum Alliance, the PMI-ACP Exam Requirements are:

  4. 8 months of agile project experience within the last 3 years

PMI-ACP Exam Details

  • Exam Type: Multiple Choice Questions
  • Number of Questions: 120. Of the 120 questions, 20 are considered pretest questions, which do not affect the score
  • Exam Duration: 180 minutes
  • Passing Score: The passing score for all PMI exams is determined by psychometric analysis
  • Exam Retake: During the one-year eligibility period, you may take the examination up to three times
  • Certification Validity: The PMI-ACP certificate is valid for three years. You must earn 30 PDUs involving Agile topics to renew the certification

ASM Certification Exam

The EXIN Agile Scrum Master is a unique certification program that combines Agile service management with the Scrum process framework. Successful completion of an EXIN Agile Scrum Master Training provided by an EXIN accredited training provider such as Invensis Learning is mandatory.

  • Passing Score: SSM 4 = 33/45 questions (73%), SSM 5 = 34/45 questions (75%)
  • Exam Retake: The first attempt is included as part of the course registration fee if the exam is taken within 30 days of course completion. The second attempt on the exam (first retake) can be done immediately after the first attempt. The third attempt requires a 10-day wait. The fourth attempt requires a 30-day wait
  • Certification Validity: Must be renewed every year, and a candidate needs to earn at least 10 PUDs annually
