Is CAPM worth it for a career in San Francisco?

Do I need work experience to take CAPM?

How long is the CAPM certification valid?

CAPM is valid for three years. To keep it active, you retake and pass the CAPM exam within the three-year cycle. Unlike PMP, CAPM renewal is by re-examination, not by earning PDUs.

Which standard is the CAPM based on?

CAPM is based on the CAPM Examination Content Outline effective 2023, aligned to the PMBOK Guide, 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide. The exam reflects predictive, agile and hybrid approaches to project delivery.

How does CAPM differ from PMP?

CAPM is the entry-level credential needing only 23 hours of education and no experience. PMP is advanced and requires months of project leadership experience. CAPM is the natural first step for professionals building toward PMP eligibility.

What is included in the CAPM training fee?

The fee covers PMI-aligned courseware, instructor-led sessions, practice questions, mock exams and post-training support, plus the 23 hours of education needed to sit the exam. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does the CAPM exam cost?

For reference, the PMI CAPM exam fee is around USD 225 for members and USD 300 for non-members, and can vary by region. Verify current fees on pmi.org. PMI membership can lower the exam cost and give access to the PMBOK Guide.

Is the exam fee included in the course price?

What does the CAPM exam cover?

The CAPM exam covers four domains from the 2023 ECO: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20%), and Business Analysis Frameworks (27%).

How many questions are on the CAPM exam and how long is it?

The CAPM exam has 150 multiple-choice questions and lasts three hours (180 minutes). It is a closed-book exam with single-answer and multiple-answer question formats.

How and where do I take the CAPM exam?

You take the exam through Pearson VUE, either online with OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test center. You schedule it after PMI approves your application, within your one-year eligibility period.

Is there a fixed passing score for CAPM?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Your result is set through psychometric analysis and reported as pass or fail with performance feedback across the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery of all four.

How many attempts do I get for the CAPM exam?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. If needed, re-examination fees apply for the second and third attempts, which you can confirm on pmi.org.
