Las Vegas is projected to lead the nation in tech employment growth this year, and employers across software, data center, gaming technology and healthcare teams often list a Certified ScrumMaster credential as preferred. Scrum Masters in the city average around $113,667 a year, so the CSM offers strong career and earning returns.

What is the Certified ScrumMaster certification?

The CSM is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification. It validates your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values and practices that make Scrum teams effective. It is the most widely recognized Scrum Master credential worldwide.

Who should take the CSM course?

The CSM suits aspiring Scrum Masters, project managers moving into agile, and developers, testers or business analysts who want to formalize their Scrum knowledge. There is no formal education or work experience requirement to attend.

    Who governs the CSM credential?

Scrum Alliance governs the CSM. The course and exam align to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the 2020 Scrum Guide by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, and the certification is issued through the Scrum Alliance portal.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

The CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle. SEUs can be earned through courses, conferences, coaching and self-study.

    Pricing

What is included in the CSM course fee?

The training fee typically includes Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, delivery by a Certified Scrum Trainer, case studies, practice activities, and exam guidance. Passing the exam also includes a two-year Scrum Alliance membership and digital badge. Request a quote for the current inclusions.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes. It is taken online without a proctor once your approved course is complete.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

The passing score is 74%, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. Because the exam is open book, focus on understanding the Scrum framework and the 2020 Scrum Guide rather than memorizing.

Do I need to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

Yes. Attendance at a Scrum Alliance approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory. The exam cannot be accessed until you complete the course, after which you have 90 days to take it.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?
