Six Sigma (6?) is a collection of process management methods and tools. American Engineer Bill Smith coined it while working at Motorola in 1986. Lean Six Sigma is a technique in quality control that streamlines and improves company processes to do more with less. This uses a number of quality control methods, primarily analytical, and statistical methods, and establishes in the company a specific network of people who are experts in these methods. Each Six Sigma project performed within a company follows a prescribed sequence of steps and has clear value goals, such as: reducing process cycle times, reducing emissions, reducing costs, increasing consumer satisfaction, and increasing income.

Why Six Sigma? 

The interviewer wants to know if you’ve ever tried to ponder why just Six Sigma and not beyond. The answer to this question should be examined by yourself, why 6 and not 7, not 5? There we can conclude that when attaining Six Sigma, the yield will be 99.9996 percent, which is difficult to achieve otherwise because we only have to agree to 3.4 defects, the goal must be challenging and achievable and thus it is Six Sigma. 

How Did You Decide about the Projects, and What Were the Problems?

Should note the VOC or VOP here. Clients or customers may give the VOC by reactive feedback or by performing the survey or the ratings of the customer to the process. By this, we consider the parameters as the dissatisfactions of the consumer against the products or services.

What Was the Scope of the Project? 

The nature and scope of the project make the project boundaries such that people can focus on the inside of the boundary and something outside the boundary is not controversial for the project. Boundaries can be limited to one method, location, people, and time duration. 

Why Did You Set These Projects as Your Goal? 

The objectives of the project should be the basis of the SMART approach and the right goals which we could see through the interval of confidence. The action is the mechanism. 

How Will You Determine the Degree of the Project, Whether the Project Would be a Black Belt or a Green Belt? 

These things depend on the benefits that we’d get after the projects and the project field. If the project’s scope is at the level of the organization, it should be counted as a Black Belt project. What Would You Do after Having Received the VOC / VOC? 

When we get the customer feedback and the process’s Voice, we need to do a Quality Critical test that lets us turn the customer’s voice into metrics. Six Sigma will focus on concrete problems and modify them with automatically generated solutions to statistical problems. 

Who Exactly is SIPOC? 

It is the device used to see the entire operation, it gives the whole image of suppliers, inputs, method, production, and customers.

What are the Milestones?

It depends on the methodology in the Six Sigma process, either DMAIC or DMADV, and for each stage, sometime durations should be involved, the milestones provide the time limit for each stage, if we extend the time limit, we need stakeholder approval. 

What is RASIC, or ARMI? 

The entire Six Sigma team comes to know, with the help of ARMI or RASIC, who is the authorized person, who is responsible for the project, who should be a consultant, and who should be informed so that there are no conflicts at work.

How Do We Define a Problem Statement? 

The problem should be transparent and concise and should be identified in metrics to make it easier for stakeholders to understand what would happen if the issue were not addressed, and the potential implications should also be discussed with stakeholders. 

How to Collect the Data? 

First, we should be clear about the Y = F(x), by this we should be clear about the effect of all variables on Y, and then we should plan the collection of data, which should be stratified.

What are Data Types? 

Two main types of data may be data-quantitative and qualitative. The continuous data comes under the quantitative data and the attributed discrete data comes under the category of qualitative data. That can be described more in detail.

We gauge by repeatability and reproducibility in Gauge R and R. Here the difference between repeatability and reproducibility needs to be explained.

What is a Mapping of Value Stream? 

Describe the VSM, and the distinction between a process map and VSM could be asked here questions. In this, they could ask about cycle time, takt time, and time in the lead. So, we must be very specific about all those times.
