Is PMP required before I can pursue the PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their program management experience.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience (or PMP) plus 84 months of program management experience. With a bachelor's degree the program requirement drops to 48 months, and to 36 months with a GAC-accredited degree, all within the past 15 years.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle (with at least 8 PDUs in each of Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen) within each three-year cycle.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of program management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential; our training includes preparation support for both.

What if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, scenario practice and trainer guidance are designed to help you prepare thoroughly before you sit it.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.
