The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's advanced credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated program to deliver strategic benefits. It suits senior program managers, PMP holders moving up, and PMO leaders. Fewer than 3,000 people hold it worldwide.

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their program management experience.

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience (or PMP) plus 84 months of program management experience. With a bachelor's degree the program requirement drops to 48 months, and to 36 months with a GAC-accredited degree, all within the past 15 years.

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle (with at least 8 PDUs in each of Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen) within each three-year cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current Charlotte pricing.

How much does the PgMP exam cost in the US?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members; fees can vary, so confirm current amounts at pmi.org. PMI individual membership (about USD 139 per year) reduces the exam fee and gives free access to The Standard for Program Management.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD. The Invensis training fee covers instruction, courseware and preparation resources. Talk to a learning advisor for a full breakdown of training and exam costs.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts for PgMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customized schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs and delivery teams in Charlotte. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer installment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book with multiple-choice questions, based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). The training covers all five in depth.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of program management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential; our training includes preparation support for both.

What if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, scenario practice and trainer guidance are designed to help you prepare thoroughly before you sit it.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers PMI's five performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus guidance on the PMI application, panel review and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the PgMP training based on?

The courseware is aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline. This is the Fourth Edition standard PMI uses as the primary reference for the exam.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from this training?

The PgMP is a senior credential, so you should already have substantial program management experience. Anyone can attend the training, but to sit the exam you must meet PMI's eligibility sets and pass the panel review. We help you assess your readiness.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions aligned to the 170-question, four-hour PMI format, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the program, which also count toward PMI professional development.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enroll in PgMP training?

You can enroll through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to get started.

What training formats are available in Charlotte?

We offer live online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions and customized corporate group training, so Charlotte professionals can choose the format that fits their schedule.

Where can I take the PgMP exam?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center, including centers in the Charlotte area. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website after your application is approved.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrollment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.

Do you provide support with the PMI application?

Yes. Our team guides you through documenting your program experience for the PMI application and preparing for the panel review, helping you move from training to certification with a clear, supported path.
