Market Forces Driving Demand for Program Leaders in Indianapolis

    Life Sciences Program Complexity

Eli Lilly, Roche and Corteva are running multibillion-dollar expansions across Indianapolis, and coordinating their many interdependent projects into strategy-aligned programs is exactly the gap PgMP is built to close.

PgMP builds strategic alignment and benefits skills

    Strategy-Execution Gap

Boards approve transformation and capital programs, but weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that credentialed program leaders are now hired to fix.

PgMP builds prioritization and value-realization skills

    Advanced Manufacturing Scale-Up

Rolls-Royce, Allison Transmission and Cummins deliver complex capital and product programs across the region, demanding benefits management, risk aggregation and cross-project governance at scale.

PgMP builds program risk and coordination skills

    Tech and Data-Center Investment Surge

Salesforce growth and multibillion-dollar data-center investment in the LEAP district are spinning up large IT and infrastructure programs that need program-grade oversight, not just project delivery.

PgMP makes senior program leaders stand out

    Program Talent Scarcity

Indiana has a deep pool of PMP project managers but few credentialed program managers. PgMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and highly valued by employers.

PgMP makes certified program leaders rare and sought after

    Capital-Efficiency Pressure

Margin discipline in life sciences, insurance and manufacturing pushes organizations to optimize their program mix, retire low-value work and rebalance investment toward strategic outcomes.

PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's expert-level credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated program to deliver strategic organizational benefits. It is designed for senior program managers, PMP holders stepping up, and PMO leaders with substantial program experience.

PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's expert-level credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated program to deliver strategic organizational benefits. It is designed for senior program managers, PMP holders stepping up, and PMO leaders with substantial program experience.

Yes. PgMP is a globally recognized PMI credential valued by Indianapolis employers in life sciences, technology, advanced manufacturing, insurance and healthcare. Senior program roles such as Program Manager and PMO Director command strong salary bands locally, and certified program leaders are in demand as PMOs mature.

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their program management experience.

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 84 months of program management experience. With a four-year degree the program management requirement drops to 48 months, and to 36 months with a GAC-accredited degree, all within the past 15 years.

PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

How much does PgMP training cost in Indianapolis?

PgMP training fees vary by format and provider, and instructor-led and corporate options are available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD and is not part of the training fee. Contact a learning advisor for a quote.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are distributed across five performance domains and delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or a test center.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level performance feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), all based on the current PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of program management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is a mandatory step in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our prep resources and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass on your first attempt.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application guidance, panel-review preparation and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the training based on?

The courseware is aligned to The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline from PMI, so your preparation reflects the 4th Edition standard the exam is built on.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and scenario-based exercises mapped to the PgMP Examination Content Outline to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

The PgMP is a senior credential, so the training is built for experienced program and project managers. You do not need to have applied yet, but you should have substantial delivery experience to qualify for the exam and to apply the concepts at work.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned, which support your PMI application and your professional development.
