Why Program Leaders Are in Demand Across Columbia, SC

    Insurance Transformation Pressure

Columbia's large insurers, led by Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC, run multi-year digital and claims modernization programs that need program-level governance to keep delivery aligned to strategy.

PgMP builds strategic alignment and governance skills

    Government Program Complexity

As the state capital, Columbia hosts agencies running large citizen-service and IT programs where weak links between strategy and funded work create value leakage that certified program leaders are hired to fix.

PgMP builds benefits and stakeholder skills

    Defense and Fort Jackson Coordination

Fort Jackson and defense contractors such as L3Harris deliver complex, multi-workstream capability programs under strict governance, demanding program-grade risk aggregation and cross-project coordination.

PgMP builds program risk and coordination skills

    Healthcare System Expansion

Prisma Health and Lexington Medical Center run system transformations across facilities and technology, where program leaders are needed to prioritize investment and track benefits at scale.

PgMP builds prioritization and value-realization skills

    Pharmaceutical Capacity Scale-Up

Nephron Pharmaceuticals' major West Columbia expansions bundle capital, technology and compliance projects into programs that require coordinated governance, scheduling and stakeholder management.

    Senior Program Talent Scarcity

Columbia's talent pool is deep in PMP project managers but thin in credentialed program managers. The PgMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses single-answer and multiple-answer questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour allotted time. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center.

What are the five PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The five domains are Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of program management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. Both the panel review and the written exam must be passed to earn the credential.

How many attempts do I get and what is the passing score?

You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility window. PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark; results are set through psychometric analysis and reported by domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers all five performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus the PMI application, panel review and exam strategy.

The course is grounded in The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline, so your preparation matches what PMI tests.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions mapped to the exam content outline, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question format.

Do you help with the PMI application and experience documentation?

Yes. You receive structured guidance on documenting your program management experience for the PMI application and preparing for the subject-matter-expert panel review, which is often the toughest step.

Will I get a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the program.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a four-year degree you need 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 48 months of program management experience within the last 15 years. Other sets adjust the requirements by education level.
