What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It is delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a test center.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour allotted time. Questions are scenario-based, single-answer and multiple-answer formats across the five program management performance domains.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Program Life Cycle Management is the largest single area of the exam.

What is the PgMP panel review and is there a fixed pass mark?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment where program management practitioners evaluate your documented experience; you must pass it alongside the exam. There is no published pass mark, as PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score.

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a bachelor's degree you need 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 48 months of program management experience within the last 15 years. A secondary diploma requires 84 months of program experience.
