What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

Is PgMP worth it for program managers in Springfield?

Yes. PgMP validates senior program leadership and positions you for roles such as Program Director, PMO Director and Head of PMO. In Massachusetts these senior roles command strong salary bands, and certified program leaders are in demand as insurers, health systems and manufacturers scale transformation.

Do I need PMP before taking PgMP?

No. A PMP is not mandatory for PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their program management experience.

What are the PgMP eligibility requirements?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience (or a PMP) plus 84 months of program management experience. With a bachelor's degree the program management requirement drops to 48 months. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within the three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of program management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours. Request a quote for the current inclusions.

How much does PgMP training cost in Springfield?

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across five performance domains and is delivered online or at a Pearson VUE test center.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is a closed-book test with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice formats.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Program Life Cycle Management carries the most weight.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement by domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass the exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts, and our prep resources and trainer support help you close gaps before you sit again.

Where can I take the PgMP exam?

You can take it online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system or at a Pearson VUE test center, including locations serving Springfield and western Massachusetts. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or Pearson VUE.
