Why Chicago Employers Need Certified Program Leaders

    Governance Maturity Gap

Chicago enterprises run dozens of concurrent transformation projects, but many lack a strategy-aligned program governance layer, the exact gap PgMP is built to close.

PgMP builds strategic alignment and governance skills

    Strategy-To-Execution Gap

Boards fund digital and capital programs, yet weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that certified program leaders are hired to fix.

PgMP builds prioritization and benefits-realization skills

    Healthcare Digital Complexity

Chicago's large hospital systems and life-sciences firms run multi-year health IT and R&D programs that demand program-grade benefits management and risk aggregation.

PgMP builds benefits management and program risk skills

    Manufacturing Modernization

The metro's second-largest US manufacturing base is modernizing operations and supply chains, requiring coordinated, multi-project program delivery at scale.

PgMP builds coordination and governance skills

    Program Talent Scarcity

Chicago's PM pool is deep in PMP project managers but thin in credentialed program leaders. PgMP's advanced eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

PgMP makes certified program leaders stand out

    Capital and Benefits Discipline

Cost pressure across finance and industry pushes organizations to prove program value, killing low-return work and rebalancing investment to strategic benefits.

How much does PgMP training cost in Chicago?

    Exam

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book and uses multiple-choice question formats delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a test center.

What domains does the PgMP exam cover?

The exam covers five performance domains: Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Governance (18%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%), Strategic Program Management (11%), and Benefits Management (11%), based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of program management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is mandatory in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, and performance is reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target, or Needs Improvement per domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

How many attempts do I get and which standard is the exam based on?

You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility period from application approval. The exam is aligned to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

Which edition and outline is the courseware aligned to?

The courseware is aligned to The Standard for Program Management, 4th Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline, so you prepare against the framework the exam actually tests.

Are practice tests, mock exams, and assignments included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator, and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the PgMP ECO to help you identify weak areas and build readiness.

Will I get help with the PgMP application and panel review?

Yes. Trainers guide you through documenting your program management experience for the PMI application and preparing for the multi-rater panel review, which many candidates find the most demanding part of the process.

Do I receive a certificate of completion and contact hours?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with 24 contact hours of instructor-led training that support your PgMP preparation.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP exam?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need 48 months of project management experience (or an active PMP) plus 84 months of program management experience; with a four-year degree the program experience drops to 48 months, all within the past 15 years.

What training formats are available in Chicago?
