Change Challenges Driving Demand in Sacramento

    Government Modernization Backlog

State of California agencies are replacing legacy systems and redesigning services, but modernization stalls without change leaders who can move employees to new ways of working.

Learn to drive adoption of new systems

    Healthcare Transformation Pressure

Sacramento health systems are rolling out digital health and AI-assisted workflows. Clinicians and staff need structured transition support to adopt them safely and sustainably.

    Build people-side change skills

    Low Adoption of New Technology

ERP and cloud programs deliver systems, not results, when adoption is low. Employers now hire certified change practitioners to secure the return on major technology investments.

Close the adoption gap with ADKAR

    Change Practitioner Shortage

The region has a deep pool of project managers but far fewer credentialed change managers. Foundation and Practitioner certification makes qualified talent rare and sought-after.

Stand out as a certified change leader

    Hybrid-Work Workforce Shift

Employers across the Capital Region are redesigning where and how people work. Managing that transition well takes deliberate change planning, not just new policy.

    Lead transitions with confidence

    Resistance and Culture Barriers

Culture and resistance derail more transformations than technology does. Certified professionals use proven models to spot resistance early and build lasting buy-in.

    Drive Organizational Change

Select and apply Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model and McKinsey 7-S to real scenarios, and diagnose culture and readiness using Schein's model of organizational culture.

    Engage Stakeholders and Communicate

Map stakeholders with power and interest grids, build tailored engagement strategies, and design change communication plans that use Cialdini's principles of influence to win support.

    Plan and Deliver Change Practice

Run change impact assessments, build complete change management plans, manage resistance, and embed new ways of working so the change sustains long after go-live.

Manage Yourself as a Change Leader

Apply emotional intelligence, coaching and facilitation, ethics and reflective practice, using Goleman's four domains to lead change with credibility and resilience.

    Pass Both Certification Exams

Prepare for the closed-book Foundation exam and the open-book, scenario-based Practitioner exam with mock tests, practice questions and guided exam technique for each format.

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 40 minutes. It is closed book, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 25 out of 50 correct. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation portion of the training.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam has 5 scenario-based sections, each worth 16 marks, for 80 marks in total, over 2.5 hours. It is open book, with the Change Management Practitioner Guide permitted, and the pass mark is 50%, which is 40 out of 80 marks.

How many exams are there in the combined program?

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

It means the Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted during the exam. However, the scenario-based sections require analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential.

What if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

Both exams are based on the current Change Management Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi, aligned to the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) from the Change Management Institute and the Change Management Practitioner Guide.

    Course Content

What topics does the change management course cover?

The course covers five topic areas: Change and the Individual, Change and the Organization, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. Foundation builds knowledge, and Practitioner applies it to real scenarios.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. The Foundation level has no prerequisites, so beginners and career changers are welcome. The training builds from core concepts to applied practice, so you gain the confidence to sit both exams even without a change management background.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions and full mock exams for both the Foundation and Practitioner formats, plus scenario-based exercises. These help you find weak areas, practice open-book technique and build exam readiness.

How long is the training and how is it delivered?

The combined program runs for 40 hours, typically delivered over 5 days, though the daily schedule can vary. It is available live virtual (online), in the classroom, or as customized corporate training for teams.
